We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Ship Safety Officer to join our team in Mangalore. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of maritime safety regulations and a proactive approach to ensuring compliance and fostering a safe working environment. This role is crucial in upholding our company's commitment to the highest safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct regular safety inspections and audits of vessels and shore facilities to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with international and national safety regulations (e.g., SOLAS, ISM Code, ISPS Code).
Develop, implement, and maintain the company's Safety Management System (SMS) for all maritime operations.
Investigate all safety-related incidents, accidents, and near misses, prepare detailed reports, and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
Organize and conduct safety training programs for ship's crew and shore personnel, including emergency response drills.
Monitor the implementation of safety policies and procedures, ensuring adherence and providing guidance to relevant stakeholders.
Maintain accurate safety records, documentation, and statistics.
Stay updated with the latest maritime safety regulations, industry best practices, and technological advancements.
Advise management on all matters related to maritime safety and environmental protection.
