Job Description

Role Summary:
We are seeking a highly educated and detail-oriented News Copy Editor with 2-4 years of experience to join our dynamic team in Kolkata. The ideal candidate will possess a Doctorate/PhD and have a proven ability to refine and enhance written content for accuracy, clarity, and impact, specifically within the context of the Ports & Shipping industry. This role requires a critical eye for detail and a strong command of English grammar, style, and journalistic principles.

Key Responsibilities:

- Edit and proofread a variety of content, including press releases, internal communications, website copy, and industry-specific articles, ensuring grammatical accuracy, clarity, and consistency.
- Verify factual information and ensure all content adheres to company style guides and journalistic standards.
- Rephrase and rewrite sentences and paragraphs to improve readability and flow, maintaining the original meaning and intent.
- Collaborate with content creators, marketing teams, and subject matter experts to understand complex topics and translate them into accessible language.
- Conduct thorough research to confirm the accuracy of data, names, dates, and statistics cited in the content.
- Ensure that all published material is free of errors, including spelling, punctuation, and typographical mistakes.
- Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the Ports & Shipping industry to ensure contextually accurate and relevant editing.
- Contribute to the development and refinement of company style guides and editorial policies.
