Job Description

Role Summary: We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Ship Safety Officer with 2-3 years of experience and an M.Des degree to join our Clinical Research operations in Lucknow. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safety and compliance of our research vessels and associated operations, adhering to all relevant maritime and clinical research regulations. This role requires a unique blend of design thinking and safety management expertise.

Key Responsibilities:

- Develop and implement safety protocols and procedures for research vessels, ensuring compliance with national and international maritime safety standards (e.g., SOLAS, ISM Code).
- Conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments of vessels, equipment, and operational areas to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions.
- Design and oversee the implementation of safety equipment, signage, and emergency response systems, leveraging M.Des principles for user-centric and effective solutions.
- Investigate all safety incidents, near misses, and accidents, preparing detailed reports and proposing preventative measures.
- Train crew and research personnel on safety procedures, emergency drills, and the proper use of safety equipment.
- Maintain comprehensive safety records, including incident reports, inspection logs, and training documentation.
- Collaborate with clinical research teams to ensure safety considerations are integrated into study designs and operational plans.
- Stay updated on changes in maritime safety regulations and clinical research guidelines, ensuring continuous compliance.
