About Himalaya Drug Company

The Himalaya Drug Company was founded in 1930 by Mr. M. Manal with a vision to bring the traditional Indian science of Ayurveda to society in a contemporary form. He was inspired by the beneficial effects of the snake plant (Rauvolfia serpentina) on restless legs and decided to research its properties. This led to the launch of Serpina, Himalaya's first product. Over the past nine decades, Himalaya has grown from a small-time manufacturing unit to a global leader in the herbal healthcare and personal care industry. The company is headquartered in Bengaluru, India, and has a strong presence across more than 100 countries.
