Job Description

Role Summary: Aangan Trust is seeking a highly analytical and driven Investment / Lending Risk professional with a Doctorate/PhD to join our team in Bangalore. This role will be instrumental in developing and implementing robust risk assessment frameworks for our social impact investments and lending initiatives. You will play a crucial part in ensuring the financial sustainability and impact effectiveness of our programs by identifying, analyzing, and mitigating potential risks associated with our funding mechanisms. This position is ideal for an early-career professional with a strong academic background and a passion for social impact.

Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and refine quantitative and qualitative risk assessment models for social impact investments and micro-lending programs.
- Conduct thorough due diligence on potential funding partners and beneficiaries, evaluating financial health, operational capacity, and risk exposure.
- Analyze market trends, economic indicators, and regulatory changes to identify emerging risks and opportunities relevant to the social sector.
- Design and implement risk mitigation strategies, including credit policies, loan covenants, and portfolio management techniques.
- Monitor the performance of existing investments and loans, identifying early warning signs of distress and recommending corrective actions.
- Prepare detailed risk reports and presentations for senior management, board members, and external stakeholders.
- Collaborate with program teams to integrate risk management principles into project design and implementation.
- Stay abreast of best practices in impact investing, social finance, and risk management within the non-profit sector.
