Role Summary:
As a Cargo Agent/Officer at Airtel, you will be responsible for the efficient and safe handling, processing, and documentation of all incoming and outgoing cargo. This role is crucial for ensuring the smooth operation of our logistics and supply chain, particularly for materials related to our telecommunications infrastructure and equipment. You will work closely with various departments to manage inventory, track shipments, and resolve any logistical issues.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receive, inspect, and record incoming cargo, verifying contents against purchase orders and shipping manifests.
- Prepare and process outgoing cargo, ensuring proper packaging, labeling, and documentation for shipment.
- Coordinate with shipping carriers and freight forwarders to arrange for timely pickup and delivery of goods.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and conduct regular stock checks.
- Track shipments and provide status updates to relevant stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, customs procedures, and safety standards for cargo handling.
- Identify and resolve any discrepancies, damages, or delays in shipments.
- Operate material handling equipment as needed (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks).
- Maintain a clean and organized warehouse or cargo handling area.
- Prepare reports on cargo movement, inventory levels, and operational efficiency.
