Category Manager (2-4 Yrs)

Role Summary:
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Category Manager with 2-4 years of experience and a background in Law (LLB) to join our team in Kolkata. This role will be instrumental in managing procurement categories, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory frameworks, and optimizing supplier relationships within the power industry.

Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement category strategies for procurement of goods and services, with a focus on legal compliance and risk mitigation.
- Conduct market research and supplier analysis to identify potential vendors and negotiate contracts, ensuring favorable terms and conditions that align with legal requirements.
- Oversee the entire procurement lifecycle, from sourcing and tendering to contract management and performance evaluation, with a keen eye on legal implications.
- Ensure all procurement activities adhere to CESC's policies, as well as relevant Indian laws and regulations, including contract law, company law, and industry-specific compliance.
- Manage supplier relationships, resolve disputes, and ensure adherence to contractual obligations, leveraging legal understanding to protect company interests.
- Collaborate with legal, finance, and operations teams to ensure seamless execution of procurement strategies and provide legal insights where necessary.
- Analyze spend patterns and identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining quality and compliance standards.
- Prepare reports and presentations on category performance, supplier status, and legal compliance for senior management.
