Category Manager

Role Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and legally astute Category Manager to join our team in Vijayawada. This role will be instrumental in managing and optimizing procurement strategies for various steel-related categories, ensuring cost-effectiveness, quality, and compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will leverage their LLB degree and 5-5 years of experience in procurement or a related field within the Iron & Steel industry to drive strategic sourcing initiatives and manage supplier relationships.

Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement category strategies for raw materials, consumables, and services crucial to steel production, with a strong emphasis on legal compliance and risk mitigation.
- Conduct market analysis to identify potential suppliers, assess their capabilities, and negotiate favorable terms and conditions, ensuring adherence to all legal frameworks.
- Manage end-to-end procurement processes, including sourcing, tendering, contract negotiation, and award, ensuring all contractual obligations are legally sound.
- Monitor supplier performance against contractual agreements and key performance indicators, addressing any breaches or disputes with legal acumen.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders (e.g., production, quality, legal departments) to understand their requirements and ensure procurement activities align with business objectives and legal standards.
- Stay abreast of relevant industry regulations, trade laws, and compliance requirements impacting the Iron & Steel sector and incorporate them into procurement strategies.
- Analyze spending patterns and identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements within the managed categories.
- Ensure all procurement documentation is accurate, complete, and compliant with company policies and legal mandates.
- Manage supplier relationships, fostering strong partnerships while ensuring adherence to ethical and legal standards.
