Role Summary:
ITC Limited is seeking a dynamic and experienced Chief Safety Officer (CSO) to lead and oversee all safety, health, and environmental (SHE) initiatives across its extensive food processing operations in India. The CSO will be responsible for developing, implementing, and enforcing robust safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for all employees, contractors, and visitors, and to comply with all relevant Indian regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive SHE policies, programs, and procedures aligned with national and international best practices and Indian regulatory requirements (e.g., Factories Act, Food Safety and Standards Act).
- Conduct regular risk assessments, hazard identification, and safety audits across all food processing units to identify potential risks and implement corrective actions.
- Oversee the investigation of all accidents, incidents, and near misses, determining root causes and implementing preventive measures.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant environmental regulations, including waste management, emissions control, and water usage.
- Develop and deliver safety training programs for all levels of employees, fostering a strong safety culture.
- Manage emergency preparedness and response plans, including fire safety, chemical spills, and other potential emergencies.
- Collaborate with plant management, engineering, and operations teams to integrate safety considerations into all stages of process design, construction, and operation.
- Monitor and report on SHE performance metrics to senior management, identifying areas for improvement.
- Stay abreast of evolving SHE legislation, industry trends, and technological advancements in food safety and processing.
- Lead and mentor the SHE team, ensuring effective execution of safety programs.
