Role Summary:
This role is for an aspiring maritime professional to gain practical experience and training onboard a vessel. The Deck Cadet will work under the supervision of the deck officers, learning the day-to-day operations of the ship's deck department. This is an entry-level position designed to provide a foundational understanding of maritime operations and prepare individuals for a career at sea.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist deck officers in watchkeeping duties, including navigation and lookout.
- Participate in cargo operations, including loading, unloading, and securing.
- Learn and perform maintenance tasks on deck equipment and machinery.
- Engage in rope work, mooring, and unmooring operations.
- Assist in safety drills, emergency preparedness, and pollution prevention activities.
- Understand and adhere to maritime regulations and company policies.
- Maintain ship's logs and records as directed.
- Undergo training and assessments as per the cadet program requirements.
