Role Summary: HDFC Bank is seeking an experienced Environmental Consultant to advise on and implement environmental best practices across its operations and projects. The consultant will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, promoting sustainability, and mitigating environmental risks associated with banking activities. This role requires a deep understanding of environmental science, policy, and corporate sustainability frameworks, particularly within the Indian context.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct environmental impact assessments (EIAs) for new projects and initiatives.
Develop and implement environmental management systems (EMS) aligned with ISO 14001 standards.
Advise on compliance with Indian environmental laws and regulations (e.g., EIA Notification, Water Act, Air Act).
Identify and assess environmental risks and propose mitigation strategies.
Promote sustainable practices in areas such as energy efficiency, waste management, and water conservation within the bank's operations.
Monitor and report on the bank's environmental performance and sustainability initiatives.
Collaborate with internal departments to integrate environmental considerations into business strategies and decision-making.
Stay abreast of emerging environmental trends, technologies, and regulatory changes in India.
Provide training and awareness programs on environmental issues to employees.
