Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and experienced Ship Safety Officer to join our team in Mumbai. The ideal candidate will have a postgraduate degree and 2-3 years of experience in maritime safety or a related field, with a strong understanding of insurance risk assessment. You will be responsible for ensuring adherence to safety regulations on vessels and providing expert advice to our underwriting and claims departments on maritime risks.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct regular safety inspections and audits on vessels to ensure compliance with national and international maritime safety standards.
Develop and implement safety management systems and procedures tailored to maritime operations.
Investigate maritime incidents, accidents, and near misses to identify root causes and recommend corrective actions.
Provide expert advice to the underwriting team on the assessment and mitigation of risks associated with marine insurance policies.
Assist the claims department in evaluating the cause and extent of damages related to safety incidents at sea.
Stay updated with the latest regulations, best practices, and technological advancements in maritime safety.
Deliver safety training programs to crew members and relevant internal staff.
Prepare detailed reports on safety audits, incident investigations, and risk assessments.
