Legal Counsel - Criminal Law

Role Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Legal Counsel with a strong background in Criminal Law to join our dynamic legal team. The successful candidate will be responsible for advising the company on all criminal law matters, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, and managing any criminal litigation or investigations that may arise in the context of our investment banking operations. This role requires a deep understanding of corporate criminal law, white-collar crime, and regulatory enforcement in India.

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide expert legal advice on all aspects of criminal law as it pertains to investment banking, M&A, private equity, and capital markets transactions.
- Conduct legal research and analysis on complex criminal law issues, including but not limited to fraud, money laundering, bribery, corruption, and insider trading.
- Assist in developing and implementing internal policies and procedures to mitigate criminal law risks and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Represent the company in investigations conducted by regulatory bodies (e.g., SEBI, ED, CBI) and law enforcement agencies.
- Manage and oversee external counsel in criminal litigation and investigations.
- Review and advise on contractual clauses related to criminal liabilities and indemnities.
- Stay abreast of changes in criminal law and regulations in India and their impact on the company's business.
- Conduct due diligence on potential clients and transactions from a criminal law perspective.
- Train and educate relevant internal stakeholders on criminal law compliance and risk management.
