Job Description
Pratham Education Foundation is seeking a dedicated and organized Librarian to manage and develop its library resources. The Librarian will be responsible for ensuring that library services are accessible and beneficial to students, educators, and researchers, supporting Pratham's mission of improving education outcomes in India. This role involves cataloging, circulation, collection development, and promoting library usage.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cataloging and Classification: Organize, classify, and catalog all library materials using appropriate systems (e.g., Dewey Decimal Classification, Library of Congress Classification).
- Collection Development: Select, acquire, and maintain a diverse collection of books, periodicals, digital resources, and other materials relevant to educational research and Pratham's programs.
- Circulation Management: Oversee the lending and return of library materials, manage patron records, and ensure efficient circulation processes.
- User Services: Assist patrons in locating resources, using library databases, and accessing information. Provide reference and research support.
- Library Programming: Develop and implement programs and activities to promote library use, literacy, and learning among different user groups.
- Resource Management: Maintain the physical condition of the library, including shelving, labeling, and ensuring a conducive learning environment.
- Technology Integration: Utilize library management software and digital tools to enhance library services and accessibility.
- Reporting: Maintain statistics on library usage, collection development, and other relevant metrics for reporting purposes.
