Job Description

Role Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Marine Engineer to join our dynamic team at Tata Motors. The Marine Engineer will be responsible for overseeing and managing the logistics and transportation of automotive components and finished vehicles via sea routes, ensuring efficient, safe, and cost-effective operations. This role requires a strong understanding of maritime regulations, vessel operations, and supply chain management within the automotive sector.

Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, coordinate, and manage the shipment of automotive parts and vehicles by sea, including containerized and Ro-Ro (Roll-on/Roll-off) operations.
- Ensure compliance with all international maritime laws, safety regulations (SOLAS, MARPOL), and port authorities' requirements.
- Liaise with shipping lines, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and port agents to optimize shipping schedules and costs.
- Monitor vessel performance, cargo loading/unloading, and ensure the integrity and safety of goods during transit.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve efficiency and reduce lead times in sea freight operations.
- Manage and resolve any issues or emergencies that may arise during sea transportation, such as delays, damages, or accidents.
- Conduct regular performance reviews of shipping partners and negotiate contracts.
- Maintain accurate records of all shipments, costs, and performance metrics.
- Collaborate with internal departments (e.g., procurement, manufacturing, sales) to align sea logistics with overall business objectives.
- Stay updated on industry trends, new technologies, and best practices in marine logistics and automotive supply chains.
