Metallurgist

Role Summary: We are seeking a skilled and experienced Metallurgist to join our dynamic team. The Metallurgist will be responsible for overseeing the material selection, processing, and quality control of metallic components used in our medical devices, ensuring compliance with stringent industry standards. This role is crucial in maintaining the integrity, performance, and safety of our orthopedic implants and surgical instruments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Evaluate and select appropriate metallic materials (e.g., stainless steel, titanium alloys, cobalt-chrome alloys) for medical device applications based on biocompatibility, mechanical properties, and corrosion resistance requirements.

• Develop and optimize metallurgical processes, including heat treatment, surface finishing, and forging, to achieve desired material properties and product specifications.

• Conduct material testing and analysis using techniques such as microscopy (optical and electron), spectroscopy (EDS/XRF), tensile testing, hardness testing, and corrosion testing.

• Ensure all materials and processes comply with relevant medical device standards (e.g., ISO 13485, ASTM F67, ASTM F136).

• Investigate material-related failures or defects and implement corrective and preventive actions.

• Collaborate with R&D, engineering, and quality assurance teams to support new product development and process improvements.

• Maintain accurate documentation of material specifications, test results, and process parameters.
