Role Summary: The Tool Room Manager will oversee all operations within the tool room, ensuring the efficient design, fabrication, maintenance, and calibration of tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, and other manufacturing aids essential for aerospace production. This role requires a strong understanding of precision manufacturing, quality control, and team leadership within a high-stakes defense environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and lead a team of toolmakers, machinists, and technicians, fostering a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
- Oversee the planning, scheduling, and execution of tool design, fabrication, repair, and maintenance activities.
- Ensure all tools and equipment are manufactured to precise specifications and meet stringent aerospace quality standards.
- Implement and maintain calibration procedures and schedules for all measuring and testing equipment.
- Manage tool room inventory, including raw materials, tooling, and spare parts, optimizing stock levels and minimizing waste.
- Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality assurance departments to resolve manufacturing issues and support new product development.
- Develop and manage the tool room budget, ensuring cost-effectiveness and adherence to financial targets.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, environmental policies, and company standards.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the tool room, leveraging lean manufacturing principles and new technologies.
